How it works
Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image, or try the built-in flower. Set a width and height between 10 and 160 cells, and choose 2 to 24 colors. Keep full image fits the source inside the grid with white padding; Fill grid crops from the center. Generate again after changing these settings. Symbol and monochrome controls change how the generated chart is displayed and downloaded.
Formula
The image is sampled to the chosen grid and reduced with weighted median-cut color quantization. Each cell is assigned to its closest palette color. Symbols are assigned to the colors actually used; the color-key counts always sum to the total number of cells.
Example
A 48 × 48 chart contains 2,304 cells. An eight-color limit means at most eight used colors, and a solid image may use only one. White cells are included in the stitch counts. Download SVG for a scalable chart, PNG for an image, or CSV for symbol, HEX color and count. RGB colors are visual approximations, not DMC or bead-manufacturer product matches. Square-grid beadwork is supported; this is not a peyote or loom-offset layout generator.
Assumptions and limitations
RGB colors are approximate, not manufacturer thread or bead matches.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Image sampling and palette creation happen on this device. Only the generated grid and settings are saved locally; original image files are not stored by the tool.
Are these exact thread or bead colors?
No. The key provides approximate RGB/HEX colors. Match physical materials yourself and check a small sample before starting.
Can I use the downloads commercially?
Use images you own or have permission to adapt. Generating a pattern does not grant rights to an image or remove existing restrictions.
